1. Disaster Strikes, Swift Response from the Team
In the early hours of April 3, 2024, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Hualien, Taiwan, causing multiple buildings to collapse, severe road damage, and forcing tens of thousands of residents from their homes. In the face of this sudden disaster, the Pursuing Dreams Team, guided by mentor Julian Tan, immediately activated its “With Love for Hualien” emergency relief initiative. The team quickly organized a fundraising effort and mobilized volunteer resources to launch a warm and powerful relief mission.
2. Raising Funds, Supporting Those in Need
Under the leadership of the team’s founding members and Pursuing Dreams Manager, members rallied together and raised over NT$1.5 million within 48 hours. The funds were donated to the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China and the Tzu Chi Foundation to support emergency supplies, shelter construction, and rebuilding critical infrastructure. Every donation reflected the team’s deep care for those affected.
3. Volunteers on the Front Line
Beyond financial aid, the Pursuing Dreams Team coordinated volunteers to assist directly in Hualien. They distributed relief packages, set up temporary shelters, delivered supplies, and provided special assistance to elderly residents and people with limited mobility. The team’s psychological counselors offered emotional support, helping survivors recover from fear and loss.
4. Long-Term Commitment
The Pursuing Dreams Team believes true charity extends beyond one-time donations. In the coming months, the team will monitor reconstruction efforts and consider a second phase of targeted aid, including educational supplies and psychological rehabilitation. Project updates will be shared via official platforms to ensure transparency and accountability.
5. Spreading Love, Fulfilling Responsibility
“Helping others is helping ourselves” is more than a motto it is the belief that guides every member of the Pursuing Dreams Team. This disaster tested society, and the team’s response was to build a wall of hope with love and responsibility. Together with like-minded organizations and individuals, they believe Hualien will once again shine with warmth and light.
